CONCEPTUAL AND SCENARIO

Focusing on critical and potential land targets, environmental volunteers built a conservation initiative, founded in 2012, which was later named the Hutan Wakaf Conservation Initiative. The main goal is to ensure forest resources for future generations.

This spirit emerged from concern for the threat of forest conversion that continues to be massive against natural forests. The vast expanse of critical land in Jantho is a vulnerable factor to the abundance of surface water in the rainy season and then becomes very dry in the dry season. If these lands can be managed properly into forests, they will have great ecological, hydrological and economic value and benefits in the future, especially the carbon reserves produced.

Anyone can participate in this program, by joining as a Volunteer; taking direct action in the Hutan Wakaf, research and logistics, campaigning on social media (virtual community) about the activities and vision and mission of the Hutan Wakaf movement through the online world, becoming an individual donor.
This conceptual model of Hutan Wakaf is a conceptual offering in observing the dynamics of forest management in the country today, amidst many other initiatives; both positive and negative, both success and failure.

Preparing more vegetation in the next decade, and preparing a long-term, intergenerational response that guarantees future forest resources. Testing sharia-based conservation initiatives through the Conceptual Hutan Wakaf, while developing deeper strategic collaborations with researchers, universities, governments, businesses, communities and conservation organizations to support the development of concepts and field actions that are solutions. We seek to refine global understanding through biodiversity conservation, in order to ensure a sustainable future for all life on earth in the great concept of Rahmatan lil’alamin.

The transparency and accountability of this initiative can be seen in the financial report that is announced openly on our social media. This inclusive community has metamorphosed into a broader campaign for forest rescue, which is not supported by any interests other than conservation. As part of the ecosystem restoration approach, we have prioritized direct conservation by freeing critical land and building forests on it, where we realize real change. We focus on significant changes from critical land to forest again.

Media notes discussing the Hutan Wakaf movement have been published. Nurul Izzati in the book Story of Change Kepingan Cerita Negeri (174 pages) published by Connecting Local Initiatives (COLONI) Indonesia, 2017-2020 wrote; Hutan Wakaf to Save the World's Lungs. Maulida Illiyani (Researcher at PMB LIPI) at the Center for Community and Cultural Research, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in 2017, wrote; Hutan Wakaf for Natural Conservation. The Community Service Team of the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia led by Wirdyaningsih on the official website law.ui.ac.id wrote a report in 2019 about Hutan Wakaf and their socialization. A Working Paper: Hutan Wakaf, Stories from the Land of Rencong, was published in 2021 (14 pages), published by the Waqf Center for Indonesian Development and Studies (WaCIDS).
